this monday i will be volunteering time with my employer to build five homes in five days that will be later shipped to the gulf coast region. we are working with habitat for humanity and building on land that was donated by the family of the late bob hope.

we'll be on the today show, so look for me trying to be useful and tough with a hammer or nail gun or something. and if you would like to donate to habitat, you can do so here. they are really an amazing organization and i'm really glad to be given this opportunity to help out.

tonight i am going to sew and watch the oc. if a certain couple wants to join me, there's a spot at my drawing desk and a place to sew on my couch. we could order pizza, even.

this whole hurricane thing was making me feel pretty helpless. i wanted to help out, but i'm not in a position heath-wise to donate blood right now, so i wasn't really sure what i could do. i donated some money at work with the company's matching funds program, but it still didn't feel like enough.

so i decided to help out with the craft revolution project at etsy.com. you can see the little thing that i'm making. i'm kind of surprised that one already sold! anyhow, you can follow this link to check it out. anyone who's already been to my house can attest to how much gruff loves that toy. anyhow, if you're looking to help out please check out the wonderful stuff that has been donated by lots of really great artists.

a translation for the last post...

Basically, the card starts out by saying that pooping reguarly and easily is good and constipation is bad. It continues on by asking what have you eaten, can you see it in your poop? Did you eat melons? Did you eat watermelon? Did you eat MatDongSan (these Korean snacks)? Basically, asking you to check your poop to see if what you ate is coming out. They say, lift your butt up, shake off the poop and check. All the while, during the scenes when they're pulling on what seems like a string, well, they're supposed to be poop. And it is accompanied by sound effects alternating with them saying "Get it out!". They further go on to say that when you ARE able to start out your day with a good poop, it's a wonderful feeling...that's when they're showing the characters with wings as if they're angels. Ha ha ha.

The card ends with a saying..."Until the day when everyone of the world may be able to start out the day with a good poop..."

this panda just gave birth again at the san diego zoo! i really want to go visit her and the baby in a few months... baby pandas are so fantastic. i went and saw her first offspring in january of 2004, and he was one of the most adorable things i've ever seen. [panda-cam!]

i finally escaped work and stopped being sick long enough to see it:

it was an odd time of day and there were about 4 other people in the theater with me. i think that helped make me like the film even more. once the lights were out, it felt like i was watching it all by myself. that felt appropriate.
